About the Event:

Somewhere Else is a one day pop-up illustration exhibition by Molly Maine, a British illustrator known for her captivating travel artwork. Drawing upon her experiences from 20 years of travel to 50 countries, Molly explores the connection between travel, solitude, and the feeling of awe. Through a series of bold and vibrant illustrations, she seeks to capture snapshots in time that evoke a sense of being fully present. These fleeting moments, often found in unexpected places rather than next to famous landmarks, remind us that when we pay attention to the world, we are often rewarded.

Somewhere Else reflects the artist’s belief that true appreciation of one’s surroundings requires presence and mindfulness, an idea that aligns with Lush’s mission of promoting well-being. The exhibition invites visitors to look up from their phones, to be curious about the world, and to find pockets of calm amidst the noise of modern life. Do we really need to go ‘somewhere else’ to feel truly present? Hopefully not. However, changing our environment can often serve as a catalyst to disrupt our routines and help us to fully appreciate the moment we are in right now.

The artist will be in attendance at the event to meet visitors. There will also be free travel postcards to takeaway, plus a competition to win a signed art print and a set of travel-inspired Lush products.

About the Artist

Molly Maine is a British illustrator from South London, known for her evocative travel illustrations and her striking colour palettes. After graduating with a BA in Illustration and an MA in Creative Advertising, Molly worked for eight years in London’s creative industries, before beginning her journey as a freelance illustrator and designer.

In 2016, Molly left her life in London and began living nomadically, travelling the world full time with her laptop and sketchbook and setting up her freelance design studio on the road. Seven years later Molly has travelled to 50 countries and continues to run her studio remotely as she travels. In addition to creating and selling her art, she works with a range of clients worldwide, creating illustrations for advertising, design, and packaging. Molly’s illustrations are hand-drawn, then rendered digitally using Procreate, Photoshop, and Illustrator. She is currently based between London and Lisbon.
